Dan fits perfectly with our culture.” “We are always looking out for highly ethical bright sparks who are fun but live and breathe the business. With the launch of Combat Creatures going through

It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it… that’s what gets results...

AT TIMES all businesses have to make changes to their staffing levels and the types of people they employ. Whether you are recruiting or making redundancies, you need to do it right. Talk to your team. No matter whether you are downsizing or upsizing, they will be apprehensive and concerned about potential change. If not managed, they will start to look for alternatives in their own lives which equals a change in dynamic you have not planned for. Explain the situation as fairly and openly as you are able, and listen to what they have to say. There could be someone keen to consider volunteer redundancy (thus saving a firm time and money); there could be someone who knows the perfect candidate for the vacancy (thus saving the firm time and money). Most importantly your staff are

involved with the business, if they feel part of something they are more likely to work harder, support you as a business leader and less likely to go to your competitors. It’s obvious to talk to Birchwood

when recruiting; perfectly placed to work with your business. However, talking to a recruiter when downsizing is also vital; it’s hard making redundancies. It is made much easier when you instruct someone who helps people into new career opportunities.

I work with many businesses on retaining all of their staff and creating great environments for people to flourish... give me a call to find out how!
