THE FIRST of Tomy’s Making K’Nexions Challenges has taken place at Drayton Manor Theme Park in Staffordshire, with 30 ‘K’Nexperts’ from 12 primary schools designing and building a new ride in under two hours using the construction kits. Sam Press and Jude Boag-Matthews (left) – both aged 11 – from Woodstock Primary School, Oxford were crowned the Midlands Making K’Nexions
Champion of 2012 by charity Young Engineers and Tomy. The duo came up with the Shaking Shack, complete with moving mechanisms and a swinging pendulum effect. The judging team assessed areas of
presentation, communication and teamwork, problem solving, operating, function and design. The next event is due to take place in Glasgow.
