home, which is 15km away. The attraction has a big impact, we have the big camelbacks, the double helix and the thrill of the splash, but for me the best is the part is the speed hill.

B&M have done the splash on other hyper coasters, with pipes underneath the train that take the water from the basin with the force of the train. However, the people riding do not feel the effect, only those standing outside. So on Shambhala with have also added water jets so passengers can see the effect.

The ride comes with panoramic seating to further increase the sensation for the guest, so wherever you are sitting it is like you are always in the front seat. And the freedom offered by the lap bar [rather than an overhead restraint] is just perfect; you feel like you are flying. Once people go out there and tell their friends, I am confident this ride will be ridden

by a large percentage of our guests. The minimum height to ride Shambhala is 1.4 metres, and we are using three 32-seat trains with eight cars per train. The theoretical hourly capacity is 1,600, but in reality, because it is affected by a lot of things, we are talking more like 1,300/1,400.

Seasonal Success At the moment it’s too early to say how well the season is going, we are just starting; but I think even allowing Spain being in a deep crisis, we expect a good year with the opening of Shambhala. We had 3.7 million guests in 2011, and we expect to improve on that this season.

Spain is still 70% of our market, followed by

France, the UK and now Russia, which is increasing. A lot of our foreign guests choose to stay at one of

Colourful theme

The ride is

a hyper coaster – 76 metres tall with a 78- metre first drop – but it’s not the typical thrill ride where you want it to stop. You want it to go on and on; it’s amazing
