WIEGAND LAUNCHES WIE FLYER

The Wie Flyer is the latest attraction from German toboggan and slide specialist Wiegand. Now open at Inselsberg Sommerrodelbahn in the state of Thuringa, the ride is essentially a suspended version of the company’s popular Bobkart. Passengers ride in glider-style twin seater vehicles beneath a rail at up to 20mph (32km/h). The rider in the front controls the swing, while the passenger in the back controls the speed. An automatic distance control

prevents collisions with other vehicles. As with many of Wiegand’s products, the steel rail is galvanised, ensuring minimum maintenance. The Inselberg installation features 500-metres of track and complements the German park’s existing 1km toboggan run which has been operational since 1992.

Audiences could enjoy a thrilling show performed up to five times daily, fusing crazy, comic, funny and sexy acrobatics with special effects including fire. Oliver has now taken his original high dive show to the Oceanografic aquarium
