Record-Setting Start to 2012

With tournament registration in full swing I thought I would take this opportunity to first thank all the participants in the Public Links and Senior qualifiers.

T

his year has gotten off to a great start and marked an eight-year best in entries (780) for the Public Links and an all-time record of entries (301) for the Senior Championship. We have very high expectations for the remainder of the year, and the Championships and Events Department will continue to make your championship experience the best possible. I would also like to

report how pleased my staff and I are to see many club officials utilizing the new club official online regis- tration system. This is a great tool for tournament chairmen to register those who qualify at the club level to ensure their players are entered into any given event right up until the deadline without having to worry about mailing in a paper entry. If you are an official at your club and wish to have the ability to register your members online you must contact the Champi- onships and Events De- partment so you are listed as a valid club official for registration purposes. tion off to a good start, I want to remind ALL club officials that participation in NCGA events is open to all golfers listed on your club’s roster. As our entry forms state, your club is allotted a certain number of spots based on your membership size. We have noticed that many clubs have not been taking advantage of this opportunity. This holds true for the Zone and Asso- ciate Club Championships, the Four-Ball and Associate Club Four-Ball Champion- ships, the Net Amateur and Associate Club Net Ama- teur Championship and the Senior Four-Ball Net Championship. Finally I would like to announce the launch of our new Tournament Central webpage. Prior to this year, Tournament Central has been a resource for the tournament golfer to retrieve starting times and to look up results. The new page serves as a destina-

The new page will offer more information such as past champions and tournament history as well as video segments in an effort to comprehensively cover all events. Future goals include player interviews and even- tually live web streaming. If you have any comments or suggestions on how to fur- ther improve the new page, please let us know.

From a championship

perspective, 2012 promises to be a great year. We con- tinue to have the best group of volunteers to help admin- ister qualifiers and champi- onships and they are there to ensure that your experi- ence, wherever it may be, is an enjoyable one. As usual, if there is anything my staff or I can do for you please do not hesitate to give us a call. Thank you again for your support of the NCGA and I wish you all the best of luck this championship season.
