Darius Rucker

Q&A

DARIUS RUCKER, perhaps better known as “Hootie,” the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Hootie & the Blowfi sh, is one avid golfer. Despite a thriving solo country

music career, the South Carolina native still plays multiple rounds per week and passionately supports local junior golf through the Hootie & the Blowfi sh Foundation. The annual “Monday After the Masters” celebrity pro-am attracts some of the biggest names in television, movies and music, a stellar group of PGA Tour pros and crowds numbering more than 6,000. The event has raised more than $4.5 million over its 17 years of existence. After the formation of Hootie & the

Blowfi sh in 1986, and its subsequent run of fi ve studio albums, including a debut CD—“Cracked Rear View”— that was a multi-platinum selling album, Rucker turned to country music in 2008. Two releases since then, with a third scheduled later this year, have propelled the talented 45-year-old to the top of the music world.
