Bikes bounce back

Adam Flint was the unlucky biker bungeed in the name of promoting cycling

HOW TO get publicity for your latest campaign or announcement? Sponsor a team? Hire a celebrity? Chuck someone off a high platform while they’re clutching onto their bicycle for dear life? The Highland Perthshire Cycling Festival opted for the latter, selecting local

cyclist Adam Flint to celebrate ‘Leap Day 2012’ at the first UK permanent jump site, over the River Garry. Flint bungeed on his bike for 40 metres from the picturesque wooded gorge all in the name of promoting cycling in Highland Perthshire. Find out more at www.cyclehighlandperthshire.com

Scottish start for Tour

THE HALFORDS Tour series is hitting a number of new locations this year, including its first trip to Scotland. The 2012 series will start in Kirkcaldy, Fife, in May, spanning five weeks (ending June 14th). Halfords drip-feed announcements of venues for the other stages have revealed the Tour will also cover Woking and the English Riviera. Highlights from the Tour will be shown on ITV4, on the following evenings after each stage.

Herne Hills’ Wellbeing

IT’S NOT everyday that you see trike cyclists, handcyclists and side-by-side tandem cyclists on the track, but that’s exactly what happened at South London’s reopened Herne Hill Velodrome last month. Wheels for Wellbeing have worked

Wheels for Wellbeing’s participants are very welcome here.” WfW is working with Herne Hill to make the one-off Velodrome sesson into a regular feature.
