The groups comprise of professionals
from different specialities who are using their skills and knowledge to assist communities in the process of improving their lives.
CTA’s (Cuban Technical Advisors) programme
in Western Cape Department of Human Settlements started in 2005 with phase 1. Since inception, our professionals have been involved in different projects in conjunction with numerous municipalities and with our expert assistance, several communities have benefited with new services, infrastructure and variances of design.
Another project that CTA is involved in is the People’s Housing Process (PHP) projects in the Western Cape Province. It was created by the Government of South Africa to assist communities in improving their lives by providing them with free houses and also in creating jobs for people within communities.
The most invaluable experience that I am taking from South African communities is the pleasure of seeing their happy faces when I walk those streets, the fact that I have contributed to their happiness and the gratitude in retribution for my effort. It has been a long period of four years sharing with the South African people, which is something that I will never forget.

I am part of a team of professionals who are assisting the Western Cape Department of Human Settlements to create and implement innovative monitoring systems and to present workshops to community members related to the building process.
