Learning Objectives
To plan the assembly operation for the product. To select proper joining methods for assembly. To plan and estimate the most effective sequence of a product assembly. To calculate and analyze each component with respect to feeding, gripping, insertion & fixing operations.

carried out initially, which helped in the functional analysis of the products. Design efficiency was calculated followed by Feeding and Fitting analysis on the products. The participants could sense a huge potential for reduction in the number of components in the products. Apart from these, very important design guidelines were delivered which would factor the manufacturing and assembly problems, right at the design stage.
Course delivery
The lead trainer for DFMA was Mr. NC Narayanan, Founder & CMD of SSA Group of Companies. Mrunal Shaldar, a qualified Product Designer from Coventry University, assisted Narayanan as a co-faculty for the training. The training program was attended by 22 participants comprising of Senior & Junior Product Designers, Officers and Managers from Production Engineering, Prototyping and Validation & Testing with experience ranging from 1 to 18 years. SSA Tech facilitated exclusive practical hands-on DFMA analysis for the participants on their Automobile products as a part of the training program.
The two major products on which the DFMA analysis was carried out were:
1. Inspection fixture for outrigger 2. Steering assembly
Both the case studies were analysed for DFMA by the participants, segregated in 3 groups. The functional role of each component was
