Marius Meyer and Peta Horn, of SABPP, jointly led their workshop Learning as a catalyst for change and innovation. Their agenda looked at the need for innovation, the role of learning in driving change, learning as a catalyst for change and some practical guidelines for positioning learning as a change catalyst in your organisation. Meyer and Horn also shared how the SABPP itself is changing and the new


requirement for the professional registration of HR and L&D practitioners.


Henry Chandler, Senior Manager in the Centre of Excellence: Global Talent Management at Sasol, shared a case study in his workshop Pitfalls and opportunities: A case study in developing our managers of others. The session included an overview of Sasol’s business imperatives and HR strategy and their Leadership Development framework. Chandler explained that the foundation of Sasol’s strategic agenda is to develop and empower their people, continuously improve and grow their existing asset base, and deliver on the South African transformation agenda.


Nino Haasbroek and Leonie Pentz of AIMS International led an interesting session on The application of social media and branding. In this interactive workshop Haasbroek and Pentz explained how companies need to have their marketing and HR functions working closely together to create the right brand in order to attract the right talent.
