nail enhancements:wraps

“Fibreglass or silk nails are a great half-way house

for clientswho prefer not towear acrylics but need more support than gel polish”

- Belinda Price, Nubar Educator prep

As withmost nail enhancements, preparation of the nail is very important in terms of avoiding lifting.

There are four simple steps to preparing the nail before applying the wrap enhancement. First of all, ensure that the cuticle is removed fromthe nail, whilst ensuring not to clip anything that is living as this could lead to lifting and possibly a bacterial infection.

Secondly, remove the shine fromthe nail plate, then eliminate all surface contaminators and finally purify the nail plate layer.

You should also ensure that you don’t touch the adhesive backing before sticking it to the client’s nails as if debris or oil fromyour fingers gets onto the adhesive theremay be problems with it sticking or itmay cause the wrap to lift later on.

Thematerial used for the wrap is then cut into the shape of the nail, however it is important not to cut it too big as the excess wrap will fray when you file it to the correct size.

systems

Wrap systems do not require expensive equipment apart fromscissors, resin and activator; therefore they can be very cost effective to your salon.

Also, fibreglass and silk wraps are available in pre-cuts whichmeans the treatment can be donemuch quicker than other enhancements so no longer do salons have to book out long treatment times to accommodate clients’ needs.

Fibreglass systems are one of the few systems that aremost suited to all clients. Unlike other nail enhancements, there is no filing on the nail plate, removal can be achieved with soaking alone in just 20 minutes and there are no strong odours.
