light-based anti-ageing

Over a period of treatments, the skin’s elasticity, thickness and smoothness increases whilst the appearance of wrinkles is reduced.

Crystal Clear IPL photo rejuvenation treatment rejuvenates ageing and sun- damaged facial skin through the proven effects of intense broad-band light enhanced by the effect of new collagen, reducing fine lines and wrinkles while improving skin firmness.

“While some anti-ageing treatments can make a dramatic difference to the skin texture it is still difficult to remove the more stubborn pigmentation marks and eliminate the broken blood vessels,” explains Sharon Hilditch,MBE, Managing Director of Crystal Clear. “Broad-band light in the yellow and green spectrum is strongly absorbed in blood and superficial brown pigment and has been shown to reduce red blemishes in ageing and photo-damaged facial skin. Facial skin will appear refreshed and youthful following the removal of superficial red and brown blemishes and the laying down of new dermal collagen improves the skin texture and tonicity.”

Sharon continues: “Vascular lesions such as red veins and Spider Naevi are treated with Crystal Clear IPL using heat coagulation - this is similar to the use of short wave diathermy to cauterise the vessels. The vessels have become incompetent and damaged, collecting stagnant blood in these areas. With Crystal Clear IPL we cauterise the vessels and the waste is excreted through the lymphatic system. The wavelengths used in the programmes specified for vascular lesions target the oxyhaemoglobin pigment.”

Initially the vein should appear to blanch or go a purple / grey colour which is a good indication that the treatment has been successful. After 10-14 days the veins will have gone or partially gone. Treatments should be every six to eight weeks and can take around six to eight treatments.

Intense Pulsed Light treatments from Ecolite address individual skin issues and offer genuine results for issues such as problem skin, blemishes, scarring and the advance of ageing.

Ecolite is a versatile system that works by emitting a broad spectrum of light via a specially constructed xenon flash lamp and focusing optics. This non-laser technology converts the light to heat energy spanning across a broader range

of wavelengths. As the pulses of light are short in duration, clients experience virtually no discomfort. Furthermore, with Ecolite the system filters light emitted from the flash lamp to remove harmful, shorter wavelengths including UV.

This system evens out skin tone by removing blemishes, marks and other skin imperfections.Acne, acne scarring and other scars on the skin can be effectively treated, including conditions such as Roseacea and sun damage, plus the system visibly rejuvenates skin and produces noticeable anti-ageing benefits. Dull upper layers of the skin are removed to uncover a fresher, younger looking complexion.

coloured light therapy

Coloured Light Therapy, also known as LEDTherapy, comprises of LED lights of different colours set at varying wavelengths. When these are shone onto the skin, they stimulate the skin’s facility to change.

LED therapy is a non-invasive procedure that activates skin cells with pulses of low-level, non-thermal light energy,” explainsAngela. “LED therapy converts light energy within the skin cells, like photosynthesis, which takes sunlight and converts it into food energy in plants. The LED lights stimulate natural processes to help rejuvenate the skin.

She continues: “The inclusion of four colours (red, green, blue and yellow) using LED lights and set at varying wavelengths offers a wide range of benefits. For example, green cools and reduces redness, blue reduces swelling and offers antibacterial effects for the treatment of acne, red rejuvenates and stimulates the lymphatic system, whilst yellow tones and smoothes the skin, as well as promoting the production of collagen.” Some systems also offer violet LEDs, which have an anti- bacterial effect.

“LED technology can be combined with facials,Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peels and Oxygen Therapy to name just a few,” adds Tony Cornock, Director of DermaCo Skincare Ltd. “LEDTherapy uses non-thermal light that infiltrates deep into the skin. It uses different wavelengths at a sufficient light power in order to create a sequence of biological reactions. This in turn stimulates the cells whilst enhancing elastin and collagen synthesis to activate the skin tissue repair enzymes.”
