Dear Readers

Thismonth I thought I’dmention a few words about teamwork. We can often take our fellowmembers of staff for granted; it’s easily done.We arrive at work in a morning, say ‘hi’ and knuckle down to our daily tasks. Everyone carries out their roles, and together we create a successful business. But how often do we take the time to say ‘thank you’ to those we work with, those individuals who help us to be successful?

Youmight think that your success is simply down to your own hard work. Of course if you work alone in your own business, then this is the case and you’re right to give yourself a pat on the back! But if you work in a salon or Spa alongside other therapists, then success is shared and everyone plays their part.Together your customer care, performance and attitude help to build a salon’s reputation and ultimately its success.

It’s true that teammembers come and go, but for salon owners andmanagers, creating a bond between therapists, so that they work hard so as not to let their fellow therapists down, is vital. Plus, when members of staff feel part of a teamof fellow therapists that they respect and class as friends, you create loyalty.Your team will put in the extra effort to ensure their teamsucceeds.

With this inmind I would like to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to our team, or rather the lovely friends I work with, who have kept Guild News and our other publications on top formwhilst I’ve been away fromthe office for the past few weeks. OurActing Deputy Editor Donna Taylor has been a true legend and I’d like to dedicate this issue to her along with features writer StaceyTopley – thank you ladies!

Best wishes Melissa Dennis Editor

FREE insurance fromABT

In conjunction with BeautyUK, leading beauty membership and insurance organisationAssociated Beauty Therapists (ABT) is offering you a fantastic insurance promotion.

Insurance is important to you as a therapist or salon owner, as it covers for any unexpected claims from accidents, such as burning a client with hot wax or a client injuring themselves on your premises.

“Many therapists put an issue like insurance on the back burner, the usual reasoning being ‘it’ll never happen to me!’” says Dave Horton, Director ofABT. “But in a nutshell then, insurance is vital. For the cost of your premium you have unloaded all of the worries and financial concerns of a potential claim to the insurance company, thereby allowing you to concentrate on how best to run your business.”

Therapists and salon owner attending BeautyUK can now get free insurance fromABT. Simply spend £500 in one transaction with any Skin Care, Equipment, Nails or Tanning company at the show and in return receive one year's free beauty insurance for yourself worth £69.85, and half price beauty insurance for any additional members of staff in your salon.

Alternatively, if you just offer nail treatments, spend £250 in one transaction with any individual nail company at BeautyUK and you’ll receive free nail insurance worth £49.85 for the year, and the option of claiming half price nail insurance for any additional members of staff.

Once you’ve made your purchases at BeautyUK, simply take your receipt to theABT stand, where their friendly team will do the rest.
