This year sees BeautyUK hosts the fifth annual UK NailTech competition, with new and exciting categories to compete in.
The event is supported by Entity Nail Couture, along withABT, China Glaze and Kooky Nail Fashionistas.
As theMidlands' only professional nail competition, UK NailTech attracts competitors fromacross the country and beyond all hoping to be named the winner in their chosen field. This year we have 10 categories for you to enter and, following feedback fromprevious years, we've again revamped this year's categories.
TopTech Competition Nails - NEWFOR 2012!
You will have two and a half hours to complete your set of 10 pink and white competition nails, for which you can use any system: Gel or L&PTip and Overlay, Sculpt, orTip&OverlayWrap, with one hand painted in red.Youmust only use one system, not a combination.
TopTech NewcomersTip& Overlay
Created for competition novices, you must not have entered any professional competition before to qualify for this category. Complete a set of 10Tip& Overlay competition nails in two and a half hours, using your chosen system (L&P, Gel orWrap), with one hand painted with red
polish.This category is not for sculpting, nail art or airbrushing, and is a great introduction to competing.
TopTech Like4Like
Created for techs who love a challenge, you will have one and a half hours to complete a set of competition nails to a French finish on one hand as follows: 1 nail tip and overlay, two colour acrylic (pinkie); one nail sculpt, two colour acrylic (ring finger); one nail tip and overlay, two colour gel (middle finger); one nail sculpt, two colour gel (index finger); and the thumb nail two colour acrylic / or gel your choice.
Salon Nail Challenge
Showcase your salon work by creating a full set of 10 salon nail extensions in one and a half hours, using any systemand any of the products you would use in the salon (French tips prohibited), with one hand painted with red polish.
Salon NailArt Challenge
This competition challenges you to produce one hand of wearable permanent nail art / encapsulation, using coloured acrylics, gels and glitters etc. 3-D raised artwork is optional on the thumb and ring finger only.You will have one hour and 30minutes.
StudentTip&Overlay Challenge
The StudentTip&Overlay Challenge category is only open to students who have been doing any type of nails for less than two years and have never entered any nail competition before. It is very popular with Level 2 / 3 college students. Judges will be looking for the student who can produce the best set of 10 nails to NVQ Level 2 standard demonstrating natural tip blending, choosing to work in one colour on two hands and then one hand painted with red polish. Students should be nominated by their college.
TopTech Photographic NailArt - Strictly Come Dancing
Judges will be looking for best 'cover shot' which encapsulates this year's theme of Strictly Come Dancing - so let your imagination run wild!The winning image will be featured in Guild News and The Nail File.Your entrymust be accompanied by a step-by-step.
TopTech Photographic Classic Nail - NEWFOR 2012!
Judges will be looking for the best photograph that showcases nails that have beenmanicured completely natural or have natural / standard French nail extensions / overlays applied or have a clear or plain coloured polish applied (no glitter topcoats are allowed).A great category to enter if you can'tmake the live competition.Your entrymust be accompanied by a step-by-step.
TopTech Boxed NailArt& Student Boxed NailArt - Strictly Come Dancing
Judges are looking for 10 decorated nails presented in a plain display box, over which the theme of 'Strictly Come Dancing' is demonstrated. Designsmust feature at least three differentmediums / techniques to demonstrate off your skills, such as 3D sculpting, encapsulation or hand painted techniques.Your entrymust be accompanied by a step-by-step.
