Finding Value in Waste
Over the past ten years Grundon Waste Management has invested over £200m in was te manag ement and recycling infrastructure, without recourse to state aid of any sort.
We operate one of the most fuel-efficient collection vehicle fleets in the country.
Our Mater ial s Recovery Facilities (MRFs) are amongst the most modern in the UK, and we are continually seeking ways to recover additional materials, most recently glass bottles and jars.
We have helped businesses, l o c a l a u t h o r i t i e s a n d government departments to reach their environmental targets through our investment in high-tech waste treatment and recovery plants.
The state-of-the-art Lakeside Energy from Waste plant came on stream in 2010, diverting 410,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste per year from landfill and generating enough electricity to power c.50,000 homes.
2011 saw the completion of a £7m rebuild of our Colnbrook MRF. Incorporation of the latest 'Redwave' Auto Sorters will enable us to extract addi- tional materials for recycling such as Tetrapak cartons and plastic film, and do so at higher speeds. Every opportunity has been taken to incorporate new, energy-efficient technologies.
With many more exciting developments already in the pipeline, Grundon will continue to find value in waste well into the future.
