I believe it was Ghandi who said: “As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world —that is the myth of the atomic age—as in being able to remake ourselves.” As long as we are alive, there is more to learn. Considering resolutions at the start of each New Year offers a rich opportunity to re-evaluate our lives and discover new, more pleasurable paths to greater vitality. Inherent in each moment are personal choice and endless potential. Is there any aspect of your life you would like to

transform? Do you feel too tired, uncertain or overwhelmed

to take the first step that can make it happen? This edition of Natural Awakenings, which houses our Fourth Annual Resource Directory, offers an array of information to help you start moving from more closed to open, sad to joyous, asleep to awake, stuck to flowing, and/or fearful to courageous. Learn about numerous healing modalities from the glossary listings. Choose from among a diverse cadre of local practitioners who offer products and services to engage you on your journey to a fuller, healthier, more enriching life. The Directory serves as a reference guide so you can have fun year-round venturing into new beginnings, garnering different perspectives and embarking on delicious self-discovery, regardless of your age or experiences. In creating Natural Awakenings’ monthly editions, my sense of discovery is continually refreshed and this year I did start my health resolutions on January 2nd! After the busy holiday season, I began the year with an 8-day cleanse (which was invigorating!) and have been taking care of projects that I had put off for months. Though many are little projects, sometimes it’s the accumulation of the so-called “insignificant jobs” that can diminish our energy. By handling the easily do-able items, I have gained a sense of accomplishment and freed up some time and energy to take on the larger tasks. I have also begun monitoring my thoughts more carefully, catching myself when I start complaining about things that I can- -and cannot--control (everything from weather and sitting in traffic, to removing dust from my furniture, doing taxes and dealing with challenging personalities). With this new year, I am consciously choosing to be more aware of my views and how interconnected my thoughts, beliefs and decisions are with my well-being... and ultimately what I create in my life (circumstances, quality of relationships, health, prosperity).

I hope you will join me on this life-affirming voyage of exploration by igniting

your own curiosity and finding what appeals to you most as you consider pages of this Directory edition, our largest of the year. May you feel continually revitalized and nourished in body, mind and spirit with each new endeavor.
