The team found an amazing set of archives, discovered recently in their offices, which revealed some of the weird and wonderful organisations that have paid a visit over the years.
From crop driers to wool dyers, coke workers to carpet weavers and sewage purification companies to silver screen corporations, they’ve all chosen the famous resort as the only place to host their annual get-togethers.
highlighting how Blackpool has always been the perfect place to mix business and pleasure, there's a hefty dose of entertainment organisations represented in the archive with both the National Association of Theatrical and Kine employees and even the great Columbia Pictures making the resort their destination of choice in 1944. Columbia had just turned to making colour pictures and their films starred all-time greats including Rita hayworth and the Three Stooges.
The £multi-million renovation of Blackpool's centre-piece Winter Gardens venue has seen the beautiful and extensive victorian complex restored and refurbished. Its unique construction means it offers a number of spaces for different sized groups – from large banquets to small intimate dining; spaces include the gorgeous Empress Ballroom and Opera house theatre.
