Grundy Art Gallery is Blackpool’s award winning visual arts venue situated in the centre of town. Its beautiful Edwardian style architecture hosts a programme of temporary exhibitions, concentrated on contemporary visual art and culture. Now recognised as one of the best and architecturally stunning art galleries in the region, Grundy’s programme features the work of internationally recognised and young emerging artists. Exhibitions range from featuring Blackpool’s heritage and contemporary culture to temporary displays of the gallery’s collection of victorian and modern art. As well as featuring an eclectic programme the gallery also hosts a unique shop featuring artist made jewellery from leading and emerging makers. cENTRAL LIBRARY
Look up the newly redeveloped Central Library on Queen Street when you are next in town. visitors have free Internet access on library computers and can read a wide selection of newspapers and magazines in the café. Whatever your interests the library has books on everything from how to keep fit to the latest thrillers. If you want to know more about the area, the Local history and Family Centre on the first floor has a wealth of information on Blackpool and the Fylde coast. The building also has new unique artwork in the form of eight stained glass windows that seek to reflect the vision for a modern public library.
