Blackpool Zoo is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2012 and the changes over the years have to be seen to be believed!
Over 1000 mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates now reside in spacious, natural enclosures amidst 32 acres of stunning, mature parkland with lakes, trees and plenty of room for the kids to run wild. From aardvarks to zebras, all your favourites are here. You can get up close and personal with our lions, elephants, orang-utans, giraffes, ring-tailed lemurs and many more in walkthrough enclosures or by standing just inches away at huge glass viewing panels.
The Active Oceans Arena is a must if you want to watch our amazing sealions (they’ve even appeared on Blue Peter!) or to marvel at the swimming ability of our penguins. Be transported to the depths of the South American jungle with our walkthrough
Amazonia…but watch out for the monkeys sharing your path! Our Birds of the World displays feature feathery friends of all sizes from a majestic harris hawk to Paddy the whistling parrot. We even have dinosaurs!
The whole family will be educated and entertained with our full programme of talks and feeds. There are extra-special Animal Experiences available, superb food for all tastes in our varied catering outlets and so many quality gifts that you’ll be spoilt for choice!
If your kids are still bouncing like kangaroos at the end of the day, call in next door at the massive adventure Play Barn and let them run off some steam while you relax on our comfy sofas.
The hands-on Children’s Farm proved a massive hit in 2011 so what’s new in 2012? You’ll have to visit to find out!
