When OPI invitedme to visitMink Hand & Foot Spa during a visit to Ballsbridge, I was thrilled. I was attending the October beauty show at the RDS and knewmy feet would be in need of some serious TLC! So I hot- footed it (quite literally) to The Oval, a trendy glass-fronted leisure and office complex on Shelbourne Road.


Mink is located at the entrance of The Oval, with its large glass- fronted exterior showcasing the salon’s plush furnishings - a great advertisement for the treats on offer inside.


On entering through the sleek glass doors I was met at reception by salon manager Kate Verling, who, along with her team, has built the salon’s reputation for offering some of Dublin’s most indulgent manicures and pedicures.


Kate’s parents - Jim and Orla Verling - opened their first salon in Donnybrook in 2006, with no previous experience in the beauty industry. Orla enjoyed a pedicure whilst on holiday which featured the use of a luxurious pedicure chair


that not only offered the client a comforting warm water foot spa but also a relaxing back massage. Impressed by what she had discovered, back in Ireland Jim and Orla sourced two of the chairs and opened a salon in Donnybrook offering pedicures similar to those Orla had experienced overseas.


The salon Quickly gaining a loyal customer base, Jim and Orla went on to launch their second salon in Ballsbridge in 2008.


The salon’s interior is distinctly feminine and opulent, with walls adorned with original paintings created by Orla. This gives the salon a very personal touch, and I’m sure that on more than one
