Oonagh: Any beauty mistakes you will admit to?
Miriam: Oh yes sometimes I think that I have quite big eyes, and when I put on too much eye make-up I look like I have Panda eyes, I could even look a bit like Marty Feldman (wide eyed comedian!). I say ‘It’s my Marty Feldman look’ or my mother would ring me up and say ‘you have too much eye make-up on!’. Your mum knows how to bring down a big head.
Oonagh: As this is an article for Irish Beauty, I have to ask do you consider yourself an Irish Beauty?
Miriam: I certainly do not. An Irish woman doesn’t really think looks matter that much but that you should make the best of whatever you have, and I think that I have done that.
Oonagh: Do you think Irish women are beautiful in general?
Miriam: Oh yes, really beautiful. It is as much to do with their warmth and their kindness as it is with the perfect bone structure. Yes I think Irish women are really beautiful.
Oonagh: What woman do you most admire and why?
Miriam: My mother because she was always a working mum, getting that balance right is the hardest job for a mother. Getting a balance between working out of the home and being a school teacher. She is my role model and she worked incredibly hard. People say to me about success, and to me the key to success is 99% hard work!
Oonagh: As a mum yourself, do you find that your daughters are robbing your creams?
Miriam: Yes I have four daughters now; I think they are beautiful and I look at them now they are 18 and 19 years of age and I think ‘don’t put on any make-up, you are gorgeous without it’. I try to tell them to take their make-up off at night but in the morning they have mascara down as far as their lips so I don’t think they listen to my advice.
Oonagh: Finally, what would you most like to change about your body?
Miriam: I have had eight children, so if I had a choice I would change my tummy. I probably need a new belly button.
Oonagh’s verdict...
Miriam has wonderful skin and to enhance this I recommended that she had a course of Lifting and Firming treatments from Academie.
To complement the treatment I advised her to use the Scientific Cleanser and Toner along with the Total Restructuring Anti-Ageing Cream.
As she is a lover of lipgloss I gave her some of the new glosses from Christian Breton which she loves!
