the gloves are off

By Melissa Dennis

Protect and prevent against Winter damage, with luxurious and intense hand and nail care.

Our hands are arguably our most useful tool.

Imagine every task you perform during the day and think how often our hands are in use; daily tasks like washing up, cleaning, hanging out the washing, all take their toll on hands, fingers and nails.

Think how much extra strain is put on the hands and nails during the Winter months, as we crank up the central heating or expose skin to icy temperatures.

“Winter is upon us and so hands need extra care against the elements!” says Suzanne Alcock of Asu Nail & Beauty Supplies. “Nails too can become dry and brittle unless properly maintained. In order to prevent chapped dry hands you need to protect, nourish and soothe hands this Winter.”

“During the Winter months, the ends become easily dehydrated and dry all over, especially around the cuticles because of the constant change of environment from heat to cold,” explains Virginie Claire, distributor of Phyts.

“Circulation is also poorer to the extremities so this effects the skin in turn. Chilblains can occur due to the lack of blood reaching the fingertips, which will be irritated and uncomfortable.”

“Hands can get very stiff in the colder months and make it a little harder to use them especially in older clients,” adds Audrey Heffernan, OPI Trainer for Hennessy Hair & Beauty.
