Adapt to the challenges of a brave new marketplace
Since our last show in October 2010, the overseas property industry has been changing and evolving like never before. While many of
us in the West have been focusing on the worrying sight of currency crises and stagnating economies in the developed markets of mainland Europe, elsewhere in the world things have been moving forwards very fast indeed. Emerging markets like Brazil and Turkey are economies that have performed strongly and their overseas property markets have been booming. And the Far East, too, has been a good place to be.
China, Singapore and Malaysia have all been hotbeds of activity, and there is plenty more growth to come yet from these new powerhouse economies. Make sure you have the sort of stock they like and in
places they want to buy. And take time out to attend the OPPLive sessions on “Understanding the Chinese Buyer” on Friday at 13.00 and “How to exploit the media landscape in Asia” on Friday at 15.00. The times are changing and the “Arab Spring”
in places like Egypt has started industry talk of an opening of the floodgates for market liberalism. And away from individual markets, the way we do business is also changing, as new sales systems and marketing techniques revolutionise how the property sector is connecting with its clients and fellow professionals. To reflect all of these changes, OPPLive has brought

together scores of opinion leaders from all around the world to the show this year. They will give you their specialist insight into every conceivable corner of overseas property. As the markets and buyers change it is
imperative that we do too, and this year ’s seminar and debate programme has been tailor-made to serve this purpose. Whether you want to know where the emerging
destinations are, where the new money is, how to market luxury property effectively, how to access financing for your projects or the viability of alternative investments, we hope the conference sessions this year will serve you and your business well for the future. Take away as many good ideas as you can, and
utilise the knowledge gained to your advantage … keep learning and never rest on your laurels. Today’s thinking can be irrelevant tomorrow. As the eurozone crisis has taught us all, the rug can
be pulled out from under our feet at any time, even when we think a recovery is just around the corner. The market is unpredictable. Prime locations and
buyer-profiles are changing all the time. The question is… are you adapting to them? I hope your visit to OPPLive will allow you to say yes. Enjoy the show.
