WSMA High School State Honors Music Camp

Tim Wurgler, WSMA Program Director

This past June, 428 of Wisconsin’s finest high school musicians met each other for the very first time at UW-Green Bay. Students worked very hard with five nationally recognized conductors and 32 of our finest music educators. Throughout Honors Camp, students demonstrated exemplary behavior and musicianship. The resulting “work-in-progress” performances were wonderful and promise to be even more exciting this October at the Wisconsin State Music Conference.

The WSMA State Honors Music Project would not be possible without the dedication, effort and commitment of our volunteer staff. Honors staff members attend every rehearsal and have extended opportunities to observe the work of these brilliant con- ductors and musicians. They also lead sectionals and chaperone students throughout camp. This year’s conductors and staff were truly exceptional and certainly provided the educational and musi- cal environment for which the program is so well known.

A special thank you to UW-Green Bay staff including Mona Christensen, John Gerow, Wayne Pierre, Patrick Niles, Kevin Collins, Cheryl Grosso, David Cook, Brock Neverman, Tyler Rindo and many other members of the UW-Green Bay admin- istration for their assistance.
