In the Center What’s Happening…
As usual, the Wisconsin Center for Music Education has been hosting a multitude of diverse events and welcoming enthusiastic visitors throughout the summer!
Enjoy the Center!
Not only does the Wisconsin Center for Music Education serve as a hub for educa- tional music development and advancement, it is a place of fun and excitement as well! Mel Pontious, the fine arts consultant in the Department of Public Instruction, had his retirement reception in the Atrium, and the birthday party for Les Paul brought in a band as well as several guests from out of the state. The first annual Piano Bank recital took place in May, showcasing the skill 10 participants of the program have been developing over the year. The staff enjoyed a grill-out with the WSMA board members, and students from Iowa Grant High School took a field trip to our recording studio to experience hands-on music production.
Make the Center Yours
The Wisconsin Center for Music Education has new rooms open for renting or leasing. Whether space for a graduation party on the outdoor patio, a conference room to plan for the new school year or an office for a full-time lease is needed, contact Mary Elsner at

Planning and
Development at the Center
WSMA, WMEA and WFSM all held their board meetings in the Wisconsin Center for Music Educa- tion conference rooms, developing new plans for the upcoming years. Community organizations have taken advantage of the space as well, such as the Waunakee Creative Economy committee, AFM Local 166, The Madison Area Musicians Association and the Association of Wisconsin Symphony Orchestras.
The Launchpad Reception was held at the center in June with a performance by one of the bands, Shoot the Moon. Some attendees included Sue Baker, Cristy Trembly, Lynn White, Roger White and Carl Baker.
32 September 2011
