CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS Madison Mellophonium Jazz Orchestra
Wednesday, 7 p.m. Enjoy a wonderful evening of musical entertainment from Madison Mellophonium Jazz Orchestra. Under the direction of conductor Joel Kaye, the jazz orchestra performs the original Big Band Jazz Book of Stan Kenton, who pioneered adding mellophonium to the jazz band in 1960. This special free concert is open to the public and marks the beginning of the 2011 Wisconsin State Music Conference.

Thursday, 1 p.m. Wisconsin’s 2010 “Superintendent of the Year” Jerry Kember is a long-time, passionate supporter of music and the arts. In addition to his years in school administration, Kember has served on the boards of Wisconsin Music Educators Association, Wisconsin School Music Association, Wisconsin Foundation for School Music and was appointed by the governor to the Wisconsin Arts Board. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Kember’s special keynote address to music educators.

This special Music Advocacy Summit featuring guest speaker Charles T. Menghini is available with conference registration OR as a single-day registration.
