LATIN AMERICA Lima
Lake Titicaca
MV Aqua
Rich in natural beauty, colourful markets and colonial grandeur, Peru boasts more historic ruins than any other South American country. She is the alluring jewel in the Andean crown, and combines perfectly with neighbours Ecuador or Bolivia.
SOUTHERN PERU Peru’s capital Lima is a clashing contradiction of cultures, its cosmopolitan centre blessed with some of the continent’s finest collections of artefacts. Set before a range of volcanic peaks, Arequipa is Peru’s beautiful ‘White City,’ an elegant colonial showpiece featuring the extraordinary Santa Catalina Convent. The precipitous walls and Inca terraces of the Colca Canyon, twice as deep as the US Grand Canyon, is an area of quite outstanding natural interest.
LAKE TITICACA The world’s highest navigable lake, Lake Titicaca occupies the high altiplano straddling southern Peru and Bolivia. Steeped in ancient tradition and covering over 8,000 sq km, the immense lake and its islands have been home to the Aymara and Quechua for centuries, its deep waters believed to be the birthplace of the ancient gods.
NORTHERN PERU Less developed, but no less impressive than the south, the north is home to a wealth of archaeological treasures, including the ancient Chimu capital of Chan Chan and the Chachapoyan fortress Kuelap.
MV AQUA & MV ARIA Offering 3, 4 and 7 night cruises, these luxurious vessels provide some of the finest cruising experiences in the Amazon. Departing from Iquitos, the boats feature large cabins and generous outward-facing windows that provide panoramic views of the Amazonian landscapes.
