Welcome...
Let’s hear it for the boys this month! With Father’s Day on Sunday 19th June, we dedicate this issue to every Dad, Granddad, Step Dad or anyone who’s ‘just like a Dad’ to someone.
Melissa Dennis Irish Beauty Editor
The demand for male grooming (not beauty!) treatments is on the rise, with Euromonitor reporting that last year €800m was spent in Ireland on such products, an increase of €200m since 2001. This is a great month to capitalise on this growth in demand
through your salon. If you don’t already aim to attract male clients, use Father’s Day as the ideal opportunity to launch dedicated male treatments. Put together packages specifi cally for Dads or rebrand some of your existing therapies to make them ‘men only’. For example, rename your relaxing aromatherapy massage as ‘Stress Busting’, and your anti-ageing hydrating facial as ‘Executive Grooming’ to open them up to a whole new client base. Don’t forget too that the leading skin care houses all offer dedicated male products to cope with the differences in male skin.
If you’re in need of some inspiration, check out Donna’s Male Beach Bodies feature where the leading suppliers suggest treatments that you can introduce to get your male clients buff in time for the beach. Plus, Claire looks at the male ‘man’icure which is increasing in popularity – have a look at the step by step which turns a basic treatment into a grooming ritual.
As ever I hope you enjoy this issue of IB – don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (@IrishBeautyMag) or like us on Facebook so you can keep right up-to-date.
