“It demonstrates the talent and commitment of the team at Seafield Golf & Spa Hotel and shows that Ireland can compete on a European and global level.”

Expansion plans during the economic downturn are said to have been the cause for the Temple Spa Hotel in Co. Westmeath being placed into receivership.

Although for some the Spa is strictly the domain of the adult, German sauna specialist Klafs have introduced a new child-friendly concept.

Located initially at the Steigenberger Hotel Gstaad-Saanen in Switzerland, Klafs hope to role out the concept across Europe.

The Hotel has dedicated an entire floor of its Luxury Spa World exclusively to children.

Facilities include a themed tree sauna, a water grotto with an adventure shower and sensory experiences.

The concept was arrived at as the company identified younger couples with small children as a key demographic of the Spa sector.

An exclusive retreat for naturists has opened in the UK at the Clover Spa and Hotel in Birmingham.

Appealing to both overnight and Day Spa guests, the Spa hosts an Aspen sauna, steam room, outdoor hot tub, cold plunge pool, heated head stone loungers and foot spa. Landscape gardens provide the perfect setting for guest relaxation and reflection.

Owner Tim Higgs says: “Clover Spa is about offering choice. Our guests are

now able to enjoy all the sophistication and relaxation offered by a ‘traditional’ luxurious Spa, whilst following their naturist lifestyle choice.”

Nudity is only ‘required’ during treatments and when using Spa facilities such as the sauna and hot tub; at other times, robes can be worn.

Owners Declan and Bernadette Fagan recently consented to a judgement for more than €5.78 million against them at the Commercial Court.

The case was brought after the receiver appointed last November concluded that they could not clear the accrued debt.

Judge Justice Peter Kelly placed a three-month stay on the judgment order granted by him to ACCBank after hearing that Mr and Mrs Fagan’s home was affected by guarantees they made over loans to Temple Spa Ltd – of which they are both directors - to extend the country house property.

The Temple Spa Hotel continues to operate as a Destination Spa, offering an array of beauty and holistic treatments in the Co. Westmeath countryside.
