Elaine Butler Doolin Beauty therapist and reality star
As Celebrity Salon returns to our screens this month, Oonagh Clarke talks to the show’s ‘headmistress’ Elaine Butler Doolin about her beauty routines’, regimes and mishaps.
Oonagh: Are you excited by this year’s Celebrity Salon contestants?
Elaine: We have a fantastic line up of stars this year which will make for great TV viewing. It was interesting to watch the dynamic between them as we had three from the UK this year and three Irish. I was surprised that Abi Titmus and Callum Best agreed to live in the same house and work together for two weeks after all that went on in Celebrity Love Island!
Also it’s great to see the real side of Rosanna Davison and Georgia Salpa (with and without their make-up). Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace (formerly of Big Brother and fiancée to Mike Tyson!) and Alan Hughes was an unlikely pair but they got on like a house on fire and were the ringleaders in the group.
Oonagh: Do you get nervous in front of the camera?
Elaine: No I don’t get nervous at all which surprised me and everyone else. I have learned a lot about TV and filming since the show last year.
Oonagh: How important is how you look to you personally and to your career?
Elaine: As Bronwyn Conroy said to me many years ago “you have to look the part”. People do look at my skin and it has to be a good example of a good skin care regime.
Oonagh: Are you a beauty junkie?
Elaine: Yes as I am not only owner of Bespoke Beauty, I am also beauty Editor of Social and Personal magazine so I have to try out lots of products but my staples are Académie.
Oonagh: Tell me about your beauty regime.
Elaine: I always cleanse and tone with Académie Hypo Sensible Cleanser and Toner. I exfoliate twice a week with Phyto Gommage by Académie to remove dead skin cells and soften my skin. I always apply eye cream and then use Académie Redensifying and Volumising moisturiser.
Oonagh: How much time do you spend on your beauty regime?
Elaine: About 15 minutes a day and I have a facial at least every four weeks.
Oonagh: Do you go to beauty salons?
Elaine: Yes I do but I am very particular about treatments as most beauty therapists are.
Oonagh: Any beauty mistakes?
Elaine: Yes! I had a strong Glycolic Peel and I reacted very badly; think Samantha in Sex & the City when she had a Peel and had to wear a very large black hat with netting around it to prevent people from seeing her face. It was very painful and embarrassing!
Oonagh: What treatments do you have?
Elaine: I had laser done on my legs with Susan Howe Laser clinic in Dundrum. She is brilliant and very honest with

people. If the hairs are not suitable she tells people rather than taking their money and then after many treatments saying it didn’t work. I also do my own waxing on my underarms and bikini. I have Clarins body treatments in John Adams, and Endemologie at Renew.
