RECOMMENDED: MICHAEL PHELPS: PUSH THE LIMIT Michael Phelps: Push the Limit This Kinect title turns to a sport untapped by games: swimming

THE GREATEST swimmer of all time is the star and inspiration for a brand new Kinect game – Michael Phelps: Push the Limit. Combining fun and fitness, the new game from Blitz Games Studios, published by 505 Games, delivers the excitement of head-to- head swimming and offers the chance to go stroke for stroke against the greatest the sport has ever seen.

GENIUS OF STROKES

Michael Phelps is not just the greatest swimmer of all time, he’s also one of the most famous athletes of any kind in the world. In his time he has won:

 14 gold medals  39 world records  Eight gold medals and seven world records at the 2008 Olympics  Seven gold medals and five world records at 2007 FINA World Championships

 Five gold medals and four world records at 2009 FINA World Championships  Youngest ever swimming world record holder (aged 15)  As well as 505 Games, his sponsors include Speedo, Visa, Subway, Underarmour and Omega Watches  Over 3.8 million fans on Facebook

“Push the Limitis a fun, innovative and physical way to game that is complete with elements that will challenge

serious gamers, swimmers and casual fans,” says Phelps. “I’m really excited to help bring a one-of-a-kind swimming video game to the market that is reflective of my competitive nature and passion for swimming. “This definitely isn’t your typical video game; much like my training in the pool, Push the Limit is about improving and mastering every race element – from controlling your adrenaline on the block to perfectly timing your finish.”

In the game, a player’s front room becomes an Olympic size swimming pool with eight lanes making room for up to eight competitors.

Phelps himself acts as coach, fine-tuning key skills such as start reaction, dive, stroke, turn and how to finish.

There are four strokes to master: freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breast stroke. All of

them can be raced over short sprints or marathon tests of endurance. Using Kinect, players’ moves are replicated on screen, and the more they race, the further they can advance their career. To take on Phelps, you naturally have to ‘push the limit’.

Players can go head-to-head via a split screen, versus three players online, or teams of four can take turns diving in for a relay race.
