New commercial director for IGN


Hopkinson heads up media firm’s sales team  Kuhrt leaves Koelnmesse  Eleventeenth director founds new IT firm  SouthPeak names EMEAA general manager


IGN l ADAM HOPKINSON has joined IGN Entertainment as UK commercial director. He previously worked as group trading director at Target Media and will now lead the company’s UK sales team. He will report to International VP and MD IAN CHAMBERS and work across the firm’s film, games and lifestyle brands, including IGN.com and AskMen.com.


“I’m delighted to be joining the team at IGN and look forward to contributing to the growth plans for the future,” he said. Chambers added: “Adam has the experience and connections we need to continue the significant growth we have enjoyed over the past year. We’re thrilled he is joining the IGN team.”


TARGET I.S. l PHIL ATKINSON has founded IT services firm Target Information Systems and taken on the role of managing director. Atkinson previously worked as a director at Eleventeenth, where he helped to create websites and intranet applications for EA, THQ, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Midway, Vivendi, Activision Blizzard, ChartTrack, ELSPA, Take-Two and more. He is accompanied by fellow Eleventeenth developer DARYL GREENSILL, who becomes technical director. Also joining the new firm is software developer SHAUN BELLIS, senior project manager ANDY GALLIVAN and technical consultant for police and security services GRAHAM ARMITAGE.


SOUTH PEAK l The publisher has promoted FELIX BRADSHAWto the newly-created role of general manager EMEAA.


He has previously worked as European sales director at the company for two years and will now be responsible for running SouthPeak’s business in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.


Bradshaw said: “We’ve got a great team in place and I’m confident that with games like Stronghold 3in our portfolio, along with our expansion into the mobile space, we can work ensure our European operations are bigger and better than ever.”


KOELNMESSE l OLIVER KUHRT has resigned from his position of executive vice president of Koelnmesse, the Cologne-based venue that hosts Gamescom every year. Kuhrt has worked there for almost 11 years and was instrumental in its acquisition of Gamescom. He leaves to take on a new professional challenge and his duties will be taken over by Koelnmesse CEO GERALD BÖSE. “I look back with pleasure at my ten years of highly interesting and multifaceted work at Koelnmesse, for which I am profoundly grateful,” said Kuhrt. “I wish the Group, its management and all of its employees continued professional success and all the best for the future.”
