Stories in our digital magazine included City & Guilds’ Cycle to Work scheme

Opening new channels

City & Guilds believes that the way it communicates with customers must evolve to keep pace with a changing technological landscape.

City & Guilds moved far beyond its traditional communication channels in 2010, delivering a dynamic and functionally interactive digital magazine to highlight its corporate, social and environmental endeavours. With interviews featuring people from across the City & Guilds Group, the digital magazine allowed us to bring bold and engaging community stories to a global audience. One such story told how Technical

Analyst James Wise helped City & Guilds donate IT equipment to schools in Africa when he spotted a leafl et for the charity IT Schools Africa (ITSA). ‘I contacted our Director-General Chris Jones through his dedicated ‘Ask Chris’ email address to gain approval at senior level.’ The response was positive and ITSA picked up 54 PCs that were no longer needed, for delivery to schools in countries such as Zambia, Malawi, Ghana, Kenya, Sierra Leone and Niger. ‘Working for a large, ethical

organisation has empowered me to instigate a project that both I, and City & Guilds, can be proud of.’
