The Industry Body for Sports, Fitness, Aquatic Facilities, Outdoor, Spas & Wellness (ILAM) has announced that 89 leisure facilities and Spas from across Ireland will receive the 2011 White Flag Award.
This year’s White Flag Awards, which celebrate their tenth anniversary, were presented by cross-country runner Catherina McKiernan at a gala dinner hosted by RTE’s Michael Lyster in Lynch’s Breaffy House Resort Hotel near Castlebar in Co. Mayo.
Kilian Fisher, CEO of ILAM told IB: “The White Flag Award has become an essential mark of quality that any gym, swimming pool or leisure facility must strive to achieve. It is a clear sign that the leisure facility employs staff who operate to the industry code of practice and are committed to achieving the highest standards of quality in the leisure industry.”

New appointments reflect European expansion
Spa resource and gifting company SpaFinder has appointed Encina Barragan as Business Development Manager for Spain and Portugal, and Nicola Smith as Public Relations Manager.
The appointments come following a successful period of growth for the company into the European market. Since opening dedicated offices in the UK in 2006 to support its European expansion, SpaFinder has grown at a tremendous rate and now has over 1,000 Spa partners in Europe alone.

Cannes gets hot and steamy!
This December the International Luxury Spa Summit takes place in Cannes, France, with attendees from across the well-being sector expected to attend.
The event will showcase keynote speeches, interactive debates and workshops as well as an exhibition area designed like a huge Spa showcasing contemporary and luxurious designs, services, cosmetic brands and specialist Spa suppliers.
Pre-scheduled one-to-one business meetings will enable delegates to meet, network and negotiate with service providers, whilst a ‘Speed Matching’ forum will introduce delegates to their ‘Spangels’ (Spa business angels).
In addition, a charity evening award ceremony will be dedicated to the Cosmetic Executive Women Association (CEW).
