“Clients get a feel for your business before they even walk through the door”
According to Google statistics seven out of ten people in the developed world are online, and in Ireland alone the second most popular online activity is researching products and services. If you are not making yourself visible to these customers - you can be sure that someone else is.
Website packages are easily accessible these days, with build-it- yourself options and bespoke sites from your choice of web designers.
I’ve had my own website for a few years now, and would estimate that about 70% of my new business comes via this site.
“Having a website will save you a great deal of money”
In this economy it’s more important than ever to stay in constant contact with your clients and potential customers. Having a website is not just a commodity for your salon or Spa, but a must.
A salon or Spa without a website is like a salesman without his business card, your web site is your shop window and it is open 24/7. Your website will work tirelessly around the clock, bringing you new leads, capturing contact info, asking customers to spread the word for you, all day, everyday, all on autopilot, even when you are sleeping.
Most importantly having a website will save you a great deal of money for the following reasons - lower printing costs, less printed brochures and letters plus the lower postage costs! The e-mail service is also a cheaper distribution method with lower advertising costs, your website will be online every single day at an affordable price.
It’s a good idea to have photographs of your establishment and staff - so that, as well as some client testimonials which endorse the quality of your services. With the aid of your website a client is going to feel that they have made an informed choice in their patronage of your business.
If you simply don’t have the budget to launch a website then never has the timing been so perfect for staff to communicate with your clients through what has become the worlds most effective and free marketing tool, Facebook!
“Your website is an extension of your image.”
A website is now far more than a reference point for existing and potential clients to view your contact details, location and services. It is an opportunity for you to enhance your business’ identity and create an online impression of what the actual Spa or salon visit will be like.
A website that is visually impressive and interactive in some way is much more likely to make people stay on the site, read and in turn, have confidence in make a booking with you. As with your salon uniforms, furniture, etc your website is an extension of your image.
By having a blog section on your website you can position yourself as a thought leader in your industry and drive people to visit your website regularly for reasons other than the obvious. Post on things you have learned, new products you are using, new staff appointments, answer customers’ beauty questions or invite guest bloggers to post (whether it is other staff, suppliers or even an established beauty blogger).
You can use a blog to talk about what you are doing but also what’s happening in the beauty industry as a whole. Make sure the blog has a human voice - it’s a personal insight for people visiting your site, you can use the rest of the website to sell your wares.
