We chat to Khalid Hussain from the Fusion Gamez store in Skipton…
What makes your store unique? Fusion Gamez is the baddest game store on the planet. We offer trade-ins and of course we have the knowledge, but we also have an in-house repair centre. And we even custom build PCs.

What impact do you think next year’s VAT increase to 20 per cent will have on your business? It sucks arse, man. It means more will come out of our pocket. We can’t raise our prices either as we already price our games slightly higher than supermarkets.
Can motion controllers Move and Kinect reinvigorate the retail market? Kinect seems to be very expensive, but it offers a lot for your money. Move is a Wii
rip-off – it brings nothing new to the table. Saying that, it is cheaper than the Wii and we are fully behind it in-store. Kinect is something entirely different – playing with nothing in your hands is a unique idea.
Which games have been selling well? Obviously Halo: Reachhas been fantastic – we’ve seen a big demand for it. And Mafia II has been selling well, too. We’ve had no need for midnight openings, as our customers know better – they get
plenty of sleeping time so they can play for longer.
What do you think will be the biggest selling game of Q4 and why? It goes without saying it’ll be Call of Duty: Black Ops. FIFA 11is also going to be strong and I have a sneaking suspicion Dead Rising 2could be a sleeper hit, too.
