What’s Happening…


What a busy summer it has been at the Wisconsin Center for Music Education! With a full schedule of workshops and other meetings, the center was very active with visitors nearly every day. Below are some of the groups that have used the center in the past few months:


• WFSM Development Committee and Board of Trustees • WMEA Executive Committee, Board and Council • WSMA Middle Level State Honors Committee • WSMA Festivals Committee • Wisconsin Advocates for Music Education • Association of Wisconsin Symphonies • Wisconsin Music Teachers Association • New Teacher Center – Wisconsin • Wisconsin Choral Directors Association • Wisconsin High School Forensics Association


• Wisconsin Education Communications Board


• Department of Public Instruction


As music educators from around the state discover the Resource Center, they have visited for a variety of reasons, such as the purpose of studying music from the WSMA Festival Music List and Honors music, curriculum planning, conducting research for graduate studies and more. In the past few months, visitors have come from Cambridge West Bend, Green Lake, Mon- ticello, Beaver Dam, Juda, Waunakee, McFarland, Madison, Gillett, Marinette, Eau Claire, Cedar Grove, Belgium, Norway, Lodi, Edgerton, Mount Horeb, Lake Mills, Platteville, Kohler, Coleman, Pewaukee, Marshall, DeForest, Evansville, Delavan, Cochrane/Fountain City, Green Bay and Fond du Lac – just to name some of the cities! The facilities and resources are avail- able to all music educators, who are encouraged to visit their Wisconsin Center for Music Education.

Tim Lutz of Menomonie incorporates strategies for utilizing Music Ace and other technologies, offering participants a variety of ways to experience and design active listening lessons.

Wisconsin Center for Music Education is full on a sunny August day as music educators take in the final days of summer workshops.


Part of “Elementary Methods Week” and an introduction to Kodály, music educators participate in fun-filled songs, games and activities that help them prepare, present and practice musical concepts for the classroom.
