environmentally aware hand drier Biodrier® – the first hygienic,
Biodrier, the most environmentally friendly, hygienic and cost effective range of high-speed hand driers is now available throughout the UK. The national launch follows 18 months extensive customer trials in a wide range of premises including public sector buildings, schools, offices, factories, retail and some very busy airports.
The range, comprising four products — the Executive, the Business, the Junior, and Eco models — have been introduced to fill a gap in the away-from-home market by combining extreme energy efficiency, personal hygiene and fast hand drying with the lowest cost in use.
The days of traditional unhygienic hand driers are over as the Biodrier Executive model delivers 100% pure bacteria free air onto the hands.
Gone too are power guzzling driers — the Biodriers run on 1/3 less power per hand dry — a mere 850 watts for a 10 second hand dry. To date the lowest powered unit available runs on 1800 watts for a 20 second dry. Traditional hand driers take 40seconds or more, depending on operational condition, for a single dry. Biodriers are 90% more power efficient than traditional hand driers by using heat from their own motors to warm the air and
by blowing it through a series of ducts to build resistance that heats it. A Biodrier, used 200 times per day, costs only £20.56 per year in energy against £251.53 for a conventional hand drier — a saving of 1380Kw at £0.1994/ Kw.
Whilst available for sale, most customers prefer a 3 or 5 year service inclusive leasing or rental agreement. Free installation is available by Biodrier’s nationwide technical team. The Company is so confident in its products that it gives a 3-year full replacement and 5-year parts warranty.
With the rental/leasing prices around 40% less expensive than any others and the guarantee of 36 or 60 equal monthly payments with no increases, it is no surprise that it is winning some major government and business contracts. Biodriers are quiet, fast and easy to use. With a hygienic touch-free operation you place your hands into the recess and immediately both sides are covered with powerful gusts of high-speed air. In only ten seconds your hands are dry and on removal the unit stops immediately. Fast drying minimises queues experienced with traditional slow machines.
Unlike paper hand towels there are no
waste disposal requirements or janitor costs of refilling dispensers. Their cost in use is the lowest of any form of hand
drying system. Biodriers are 100% recyclable — so no landfill charges. With their elegant slim design, Biodriers look at home in any away-from-home situation. They are made in tough, burn proof ABS with an easy to clean antibacterial finish. Colour choice is blue, silver, red or white. All models have Microban® antibacterial linings and a triple antibacterial filter that combats Corona and Influenza viruses.
Unlike others, Biodriers have a water drain plug and collection tray that prevents water flooding the unit’s interior or causing hazards by dripping onto the floor. Biodriers are available from janitorial suppliers across the UK, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. Honeywell valves ensure ideal water pressures and protect water supply
Liverpool’s tallest building, the 40 storey West Tower, is fitted with Honeywell pressure regulating and safety valves to ensure constant ideal water pressures to all domestic water outlets and fire extinguishing systems, as well as to protect water systems from excessive pressure. The systems include a mixture of Honeywell brass-bodied and cast iron valves.
The Honeywell valves were selected by A&B Engineering MSD Ltd, a Liverpool based Building Services Company which designed and installed West Tower’s mechanical and electrical system for its developers, the Beetham Organisation. A&B Engineering MSD Ltd was very pleased with the expertise and advice provided by Honeywell on this complex and prestigious project.
West Tower provides a mixture of office space and luxury apartments. Its water systems are fed by booster sets located in the basement, to ensure satisfactory pressures on every floor of the 140m high tower. Honeywell high flow

DR300 pressure regulating valves (PRVs) are installed after the booster sets to maintain 19 bar in the domestic supply mains and in the wet riser feeding the tower’s fire sprinkler system. The valves also drop the wet riser pressure to 9 bar for its car park sprinklers.
The wet riser is also protected by a Honeywell SV300 safety valve which relieves at 25 bar, discharging water into a concrete reservoir serving the wet riser, should the booster set malfunction.
The pressure to each floor is regulated initially to 6 bar by a Honeywell D06F compact PRV, installed in a plant room on each floor. Each apartment is served via an additional D06F valve which maintains 2.5 bar. The Honeywell D06F is a compact WRAS approved brass-bodied PRV, available with built-in filters, optional pressure gauges and a range of connections from DN15 to DN50 (1/2 to 2 inch).
