material database that allows casting designers, metalcasters, Department of Defense employees and other us- ers open access to the latest in casting material properties. The database is organized in a user-friendly format, contains all critical design properties, and allows for importability of the data into computer aided engineering design and failure element analysis programs. The database, in combination with the Casting Alloy & Process Selection tool, is designed to assist in the optimal selec- tion of a casting process, casting alloy and manufacturing source. CADS has now become a key repository of new critical design information, such as the 25 cast iron strain controlled fatigue data sets conducted from work initially sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and continuing through AFS
