3D Systems Invests in More Metalcasting Capability Rapid prototyping firm 3D Systems
Corp., Rock Hill, S.C., announced it acquired the assets of Moeller Design,
Seattle, a company that maintains in- vestment casting capabilities, among other competencies.
Moeller is the second firm with
casting capabilities 3D Systems has purchased in the past six months. The company purchased Acu-Cast Tech- nologies, Lawrenceburg, Tenn., which manufactures rapid castings, among other prototype solutions, in September 2009. The company said at the time it expected to integrate its own rapid manufacturing centers in Rock Hill, S.C., and Darmstadt, Germany, with the Acu-Cast facilities. A provider of investment casting ser-
vices and prototyping for aerospace and medical device manufacturers, Moeller also brings to 3D Systems proprietary urethane cast production facilities in North America. According to a release by 3D Sys-
tems, the purchases of Moeller and Acu-Cast were intended to enhance the company’s vertically integrated system of providing plastic and metal parts tools, patterns and assemblies. “We are proud to add Moeller

Gamma Foundries Renamed Victaulic Custom Casting Co. Gamma Foundries, Richmond Hill,
Ontario, Canada, has been renamed Victaulic Custom Casting Co. in the final step of its acquisition by Victau- lic Co., Easton, Pa. Victaulic, a producer of mechanical
pipe joining systems, acquired Gamma Foundries in October 2000 to bring in- house the production of copper-based and aluminum castings. Victaulic also operates ductile iron casting plants in the U.S., Poland and China. “The same team…will continue to
serve [our customers] at our [facility] in Ontario,” said Kurt Gobreski, general manager of Victaulic Custom Casting. Victaulic Custom Casting operates
a variety of molding lines and offers machining capabilities.
