Delivery Bollinger delivers
PSV to Bee Mar Bollinger Shipyard has delivered the first of its 71m (234ſt) class of Cummins-powered platform supply vessels (PSVs) to Bee Mar Inc. Te shipyard started building this series of vessels in 2008 and delivered the first in the series to the newly formed Bee Mar LLC in June of 2009. A Bee Mar press release at the time (May 2010) said: “Te Company will introduce a fleet of state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly dynamic positioning-2 (DP2) PSV’s for offshore support in the Gulf of Mexico and international markets. Te Bee Mar newbuild fleet will consist of five 64m (210ſt) and three 71m (234ſt) ABS-classed DP2 PSVs. Each vessel has high cargo carrying capacities and meets or exceeds the customer requirements and demands for offshore marine support applications.”

Upgrade Nexans cables up
Espirito Santo Nexans has completed a €3 million (US$3.89 million) contract for SBM Offshore to manufacture and supply the specialised offshore power, control and instrumentation cables for the conversion of the Espirito Santo floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel serving the BC-10 deepwater field development in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil. Espirito Santo FPSO is now in operation with over
500km of halogen-free, fire-safe power, control and instrumentation cables. Working under a tight delivery schedule, the Nexans
factory in Lyon (France) manufactured more than 500km of specialised halogen-free, fire-safe offshore cable for the FPSO conversion project carried out by SBM Offshore in Singapore. Te double-hulled Espirito Santo has significant power and heat delivery systems to drive the subsea systems and process crude oil, with a production capacity of 100,000boepd. Te five 64m (210ſt) PSVs, including the Busy Bee
and Worker Bee, have already been delivered and put to work in the Gulf of Mexico. Te newly delivered 71m (234ſt) by 17m (56ſt) Bumble Bee will add significant cargo capabilities to the Bee Mar fleet. Te new “Bee” has capacities that include 598.1m3 for fuel, 1430.9m3 of liquid mud, 169.9m3 for dry bulk and 98.4m3 for fresh water. Loaded to a draught of 4.54m (14ſt 11inches), the vessel will have a deadweight of 3048.2tonnes. Te 16.24m (53.3ſt) by 4.35m (14.3ſt) clear deck has a maximum cargo capacity of 2032.1tonnes. Main propulsion power for the Bumble Bee is
provided by a pair of Cummins QSK60-M engines each delivering 2000hp at 1800rpm through Twin Disc MG5600 gears with 5.76:1 reduction to 81 x 68inch propellers. Three Cummins QSM11 engines power the three 300kW main generators. Bumble Bee’s 85kW generator is also Cummins powered. Te two 750bhp Schottel, controllable-pitch bow thrusters each have

approval scheme. Tey include high-voltage 12/20kV rated power cables together with low-voltage power, control and instrumentation cables designed specifically to SBM Offshore’s requirements. A key feature is their halogen-free design that ensures fire-safety since the cables will not propagate any fire while producing limited smoke in such fire event. Furthermore, the smoke spread is non-toxic for people working onboard and is non-corrosive so that it does not damage vital electronic circuits, allowing the FPSO safety functions to operate for longer duration in the case of emergency. “Te success of the Espirito Santo FPSO contract
is a perfect illustration of Nexans’ capability to meet demanding project schedules and ensure delivery on-time and on-budgets” said Salvatore Di Giorgio, Nexans global segment manager for offshore topside activities. “It also demonstrates our global support for offshore projects; working in cooperation with SBM Offshore’s engineering team in Monaco, manufacturing in France for delivery and installation in Singapore and Brazil.” Following on from the success of the Espirito Santo
project, Nexans has secured a new contract to supply the cables for the Jubarte FPSO that will serve the BC-57 deepwater field development, also in the Campos Basin. SBM Offshore will carry out the conversion in Singapore, and the cables will be supplied by the Nexans Ficap manufacturing facility in Brazil.
