WINNERS
Big Ant, Stand A60P Carmen Big Ring This unique futuristic ring is one of a kind and inspired by the sea world. The artist made a journey into the wonders of flora and fauna in deep waters, where he encountered marvels of nature. It is a fantasy expression of snails in outer space and a perfect example of the artist’s fascination with life. Handcrafted in silver and plated in 24ct gold.
Digits2Widgets, Stand C109 Kissed Designed by Nicholas O’Donnell-Hoare and Chloe McCormick for D2W, this ring showcases the imaging and manufacturing tools accessible to contemporary jewellery designers. Here, 3D photography and laser-sintering were used to their full potential to convey warmth and emotion in the final piece.
HIGHLY COMMENDED
Sarah Jordan, Stand B39 The Pirouette collection This collection demonstrates highly skilled wax carving techniques, creating a lively and intriguing three dimensional interwoven design. The movement and interplay between the two sections of each piece really brings life to the collection and highlights the complexities of the design, especially the earrings, which are a handcrafted perfect mirror image. The collection comprises pendant, earrings and bracelet, all made in the UK.
Yuki Mitsuyasu, Stand B11 Heart Shaped Pendant Mitsuyasu designs and constructs pieces intended to tell a story. Within this beautifully complex pendant, opposite ends of a line connect the two pieces that complete The Lovers’ puzzle; coming together to form a heart-shape by way of an intricate clasp system. Just as there is more than one side to a story, Mitsuyasu stresses the importance of jewellery looking stunning from every angle. The themes, often universal and timeless, lend the pieces immediate iconic status.
