Show Highlights Design Gallery

This year for the first time, the Design Gallery is located at the front of the show. You will find 100 of the most exciting new designers to hit the jewellery scene as well as more established designers, who both display extraordinary and original talent. This area is a must-see and is always busy with lively activity and atmosphere.

Look out for the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards showcase on Stand C39. This renowned awards ceremony took place in March and recognised designer Krisztina Nemeth with the IJL Special Award in Fine Jewellery. The winning piece (pictured right) is an innovative stylish silver and acrylic ring, and reflects the high standards of iconic design and quality jewellery that are featured in the Design Gallery.

The Great Debate – Boulevard Bar Sessions

This year there will be three Great Debates that take place at the centre of the show at the Boulevard Bar. Conflict diamonds, dirty gold and other ethical issues are a concern to the consumer and the trade. The Great Debate aims to stimulate debate, provoke thought, share ideas and prompt action in relation to these matters.

The Great Debate, now an established part of IJL, will be hosted by The Birmingham Assay Office. The sessions are presented by outside parties who are each meeting the ethical challenge in a different way. The seminars will be informative, interactive and are not to be missed.

For more details and times check out our Seminar Programme in this guide (see pages 23-30). You can also watch the Great Debate podcast interviews with Jonathan Lambert and Ute Decker (pictured top right, bottom right) at www.jewellerylondon.com/podcasts.
