Voluntary Teaching & Education Teaching & Education
Education is probably the most important tool in the development of children. We have many volunteer placements in rural schools in a variety of countries. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a responsible traveller and make a positive contribution during your stay.
As a volunteer you have the chance to make an impact in the lives of the children attending these local schools. Volunteers will work at local schools teaching English in an informal, creative and self-chosen fashion but also lending a hand in other areas. You might be able to help in renovating the school or helping in the school garden.
Volunteer teaching in rural areas has been one of the most successful interventions and a popular choice amongst volunteers. Participants that have no formal education or practical experience in teaching can also carry out this activity comfortably.
Volunteers should have a good level of English and be highlymotivated for manual work. Some knowledge or prior experience in teaching is highly appreciated but not required. Volunteers should enjoy spending time surrounded by children!
What’s involved?
Your role as a volunteer teacher will differ depending on the location of the school, your experience in the teaching field and the funds and materials available to the school. It is best to approach your placement with an open mind and your aim is to contribute to an area which will benefit most from your help.
