CHINA
China is one of the oldest continuous civilisations in the world and as such is steeped in history. History, however, isn’t all that China has to offer as today it is considered a world leader in technology and the fastest growing economy in the world. It is a land of diversity that can take you from buzzing cities sizzling with energy and noise to isolated mountain top villages where you could hear a pin dropping.
China’s rapid growth in economy has resulted in approximately 500 million people being lifted out of poverty. Poverty, however, does still exist especially in rural parts of the country.
This poverty affects all areas including environment, health, education, housing, nutrition and agriculture. China also faces serious natural scarcity and environmental degradation.USIT offer volunteer placements that address these issues.

CAMBODIA
Cambodia boasts a blend of tropical beaches, lush rainforests, buzzing cities and some of the world’s most amazing temples including the great AngkorWat.
According to figures from the UNDP, Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in South-East Asia. Over 75% of the Cambodian population lives on less than 2 US Dollars per day, with the figures for the countryside dramatically higher. Basic infrastructure is lacking and education levels are generally low. However, despite these problems young Cambodians are very dynamic and eager to engage themselves!
USIT offer a rage of projects that volunteers can get involved with. These projects aimto develop infrastructure and provide education and life skills to the local people.
