Bina Valenzano is co-owner of The BookMark Shoppe in Brook- lyn, NY with her childhood friend. Originally opened in Dyker Heights in November, 2002, the store expanded and moved to Bay Ridge in October, 2006. Bina Valenzano graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Mar- keting Communications and absolutely no bookselling back-
ground. After working full time at a small advertising agency, she decided to quit and open a bookstore. Since then, The BookMark Shoppe has hosted many events and successful promotions such as: closing three streets wide for the final Harry Potter bash; story-writing contests with young adults and celebrity book sign- ings with Plaxico Burress, Alyssa Milano and Sylvia Browne.
