Short film feast

?

WaShing-

tOn: What do you suggest for a good first date spot for drinks in or around Dupont Circle? Some- thing low-key and not overly crowd- ed but not too dead.

JuLIA BeIzeR: I like the Cantina at Darlington House for this sort of thing, but it can get busy on weekends. FRItz HAHn: I’d say the bar at

Kramerbooks

(or a table on the patio), the bar at Firefly, the bar at Tabard Inn (there’s disagreement in the office about whether it’s too romantic).

Darlington House, 1610 20th St. NW. 202-332- 3722.

Kramerbooks & Afterwords Cafe, 1517 Connecti- cut Ave. NW. 202- 387-1462.

Firefly, 1310 New Hampshire Ave. NW. 202-861- 1310.

Tabard Inn, 1739 N St. NW. 202- 331-8528.

Sometimes the best things come in small packages. Starting this week, several cultural institutions throughout Washington will present EuroAsiaShorts, a movable feast of short films from Europe, Asia and the United States. The program gets underway at the Goethe-Institut with six films from Germany, Hong Kong, Canada and the United States. The series continues over five more nights and concludes with a screening at the Italian Embassy.

// 6:30 p.m. June 2 through June 12. Various venues throughout Washington. 202-289-1200. www. euroasiashorts.com. Free (reservations suggested).
