In the 15 most populated countries alone there are 82,000 hospitals, 4.8m physicians and 600,000 health clinics. The cost of high-level equipment like MRI and CT scanners is huge and prohibitive. An X-ray machine, on average, costs $350,000, $600,000 for digital mammography, $1m for a CT scanner and between $1.7m and $2.4m for an MRI machine. The NIR Image 2700 costs $19,900. This affordable scanner could, for the first time, be put to use in remote and rural areas, particularly in third world countries, giving people immediate access to the life-saving detection of cancers and brain hematomas. For the National Health Service in the UK for example the savings would be monumental, allowing finance to be spent in other areas and preventing the continued job cuts and the lack of quality care of which it is often accused.

The management team behind the NIR Image 2700 consists of Michael J Feeney. CEO, M.Sc., from Northeastern University. He was previously Senior Sales Manager at Fujitsu Network Communications dealing with optical networking equipment. The vice president is Patrick McGlashan of Columbia University. He was President of RehabCo where he built and brought to market the OmniBody Scan, an infrared imaging system.William Turcotte of the University of Michigan and McGill University, the CEO of Activity Altert, has owned and floated four software companies in the past fifteen years. Joseph Feeney is the practising attorney and investor in the company and graduated from the New England School of Law.
