Insulation and walling systems
More than 9,000 sqm of weber.therm external wall insulation from Weber provides a range of colour and texture finishes at new Gaelscoil in Naas, north of Dublin. On ground floor walling, the weber.therm XP system with L1 mineral render finish was specified. This comprises ferritic stainless steel lath mesh as reinforcement for the through-coloured, one-coat, thick mineral render. Higher walls feature XP with the M1 mineral render finish where the lightweight meshcloth is used.

Crowcon’s CellarSafe O2/CO2 gas detector and control system is being used to monitor the level of the two gases in ‘artificial mountains’ – enclosed endurance training chambers designed to simulate depleted oxygen levels at high altitudes. O2 and CO2 levels are transmitted to an adjacent control unit which adds or removes O2, depending on the demand. CellarSafe can also be connected with control systems to automatically turn on ventilation fans or trigger alarms.

Canopy for curved wall of nursery
Twinfix designed a reverse pitch on this free- standing nursery canopy in order to direct rainwater into an existing drain adjacent to the curved wall of the classroom, leaving the colourful play area drain-free. The 22m long structure accommodates the curve of the building, measuring 4.5 m wide at one end and tapering down to 3.5 m. Manufactured from grey powder-coated aluminium, the canopy is fitted with ‘safe’ non-fragile, non-UV transmitting, multiwall polycarbonate roof glazing panels.
