Eye-catching building envelope

Marley Eternit has supplied Textura fibre cement cladding for the redevelopment of Kendal College in the Lake District. The decorative rainscreen cladding helped create a vibrant and textured appearance to the facades of two new buildings. Textura was installed on pods protruding out of the main entrance block and on the Construction and Heritage Centre. Taylor Young architects specified Textura in five bespoke colours.

Drainage for chemical waste from science labs

As part of the £28m redevelopment of Rednock School in Gloucestershire, the Vulcathene Mechanical pipework system in sizes up to 50mm has been installed for the chemical drainage requirements of eight science laboratories within the school. Vulcathene from Durapipe has a track record of transporting chemical waste cocktails from laboratories across the world and over many decades.

Maple wood effect sports floor

The refurbishment of the games hall at Ardrossan Academy in Ayrshire, includes the installation of around 500 sqm of maple wood effect Polyflor Sport 67 indoor sports flooring, complete with line markings for various sporting activities. Polyflor Sport 67 – and heavier gauge Polyflor Sport 80 – both conform to EN14904, the European standard for sports flooring, and meet all Sport England requirements.

Paxton has developed its Energy saving reader to accept Mifare tokens to helping operators to manage premises more effectively. Once a card has been detected, the reader toggles a relay that switches on lights, heating and air- conditioning and other utilities and services.

Tarkett’s iQ Natural is a homogeneous vinyl flooring made with 75% natural and renewable raw materials. This is achieved by the use of a new plasticizer based on renewable resources, including natural mineral fillers, ricinus plant and salt. The surface is easy to clean and maintain and is available in 2mm thickness on 2m width rolls and in 61x61cm tile format. iQ Natural is completely recyclable.

Ceiling panels from stone wool

Rockfon’s Eclipse ceiling island and Contour ceiling baffle minimise acoustic disruption within any space. The new products optimise thermal mass and allow air to circulate freely at the same time. Rockfon Contour is a 50mm stone wool panel, coated with acoustic glass fleece. Eclipse is a 40mm stone wool panel – its visible side a painted glass fleece to give a smooth white surface.

Resin bound surfacing

Addaset resin bound surfacing from Addagrip was specified for the newly renovated, Grade II listed Bandstand in Brighton. An 18mm depth of 6mm Pacific, Aegean and Light Atlantic recycled, crushed glass together with a Yellow Cream aggregate were laid by Addagrip- approved contractor, True Grip. Addaset provides a durable, seamless and porous decorative surface.

Insulated roof panels

Factory made to tight tolerances, Unilin Systems structural insulated roof panels offer the contractor fast-track installation with weather tight roofs achieved at rates of up to 500 sqm per day – a particular benefit for housing projects. Available in hardwood or softwood, Hi-Grip Excel is a durable, non-slip decking suitable for play areas, access ramps, walkways and balconies. The non-slip inserts provide a safe walking area whilst retaining the natural look of timber decking. The slip resistance has been independently tested to prove its performance. Hi-Grip Excel is available from CTS Bridges, which will also install.
